After a drunken night out, I woke early on Sunday, and put on a movie. This was disturbed by a knocking at the door.
Outside was a girl who’d been crying, surrounded by a small angry mob.
“Does Alexa” (my lodger) “live here?”
I confirmed that she does.
“Is my boyfriend in bed with her right now?”
um..
More to the point; was said boyfriend with Alexa?
Yes, yes he was.

Worklads initial opinion was that when confronted with “does Alexa live here?”, he’d have said “no sorry, I didn’t order a takeaway today”.
.
We later established that the reason behind this quite random remark.
On 3 occasions in the past month deliverymen have turned up at his door with unordered takeaways. So in his head he matched up: somebody unexpected at the door.. i’ve dealt with a similar situation recently.. how did i resolve it.. i said to them “no, i didn’t order a takeaway today”..
.
When we pointed out that it’s not a takeaway related situation, he changed his decision to: “No, there’s no blonde haired girl here.. there’s a ginger cat..”. We haven’t got an explanation to that yet, other than that he loves his cat, which ties in with his final decision on what he’d do.
.
He said finally that he’d solve it by just not answering the door. We pointed out that at my house there’s no way to see who’s at the door without opening it, so it might be someone we’re happy to see. But he explained that his cat doesn’t like the sound of the doorbell, so if somebody upsets his cat by ringing it, then they upset him too. And he doesn’t answer the door to people who upset his cat.
