Monday was an exciting day for me (other than The Big Race)... the Star Wars trilogy came out on dvd.
I’ve been dying to watch Star Wars again for ages, but only have it on video ... and no self-respecting geek watches videos any more.
I’ve watched them through now, and George Lucas has made quite a few changes… and they’re all good ... (despite the angry rantings of geeks worldwide as they riot in the streets), they all make it a better trilogy.
One thing that did disappoint me slightly was the box it came in ... boxsets are for geeks ... and geeks will pay extra to get something just that little bit more special. With the Alias, Buffy, Angel etc series, they gave decent boxsets. With Star Wars, it’s just a cheap flimsy card box, with 4 normal dvd cases inside. Pretty lazy I thought.

I was running a raid last week, I took with me some police, a couple of other agencies, and a BBC cameraman.
The BBC are doing a fly on the wall documentary on one of the other agencies I brought along, so asked to film the raid. We gave permission, as long as mine and Pauls faces aren’t shown as it’d cause problems with the undercover stuff we do.
The BBC reckon there are 4 ways to do it, either only film us from the back, pixellate out our faces, only film us from the neck down, or, as it’s on digital film, just totally remove us from the film and replace us with a hatstand, or (my favoured option) a monkey. I can’t see them picking that option tho!
I think they were secretly relieved they wouldn’t have to show our faces, there were genuine concerns we’d scare children when it goes out before the watershed.
I don’t know whether what they filmed will make it into the final cut, but if it does, it’s gonna be shown in the new year, will post more when I know it!
